Troubleshooting

Select a problem to see the steps, and work through them in order. Most problems are solved within the first two steps.

Opening TeamCal

Microsoft Edge says "Your organization blocked this"
  1. This message comes from the company's web filter (Microsoft Defender SmartScreen), not from TeamCal or your account. It can also appear where the calendar is shown on a SharePoint or intranet page.
  2. The request for IT to allow this site has been made. Until it is approved, please open TeamCal in Google Chrome, which currently opens it normally.
  3. If Chrome isn't available on your computer, contact an Owner or Admin on your team.

Signing in

I can't sign in
  1. Use your work email as the username (unless you use the wall display or admin sign-in).
  2. Passwords are case-sensitive. Check that Caps Lock is off.
  3. If you're not sure of your password, choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in page.
  4. After several incorrect attempts, that sign-in pauses for 15 minutes to protect the account. Other people can still sign in. Wait, or use Forgot your password?.
  5. If it still fails, your access may be switched off or set up under a different email. Contact an Owner or Admin on your team.
The password email never arrived
  1. Check your junk and spam folders.
  2. Wait a few minutes; some email systems delay messages.
  3. Request a new link. Each new link replaces the previous one, so always use the newest email.
  4. Ask an Owner or Admin to press Send password link next to your name and send you the link directly.
The page says "This link has expired"
  1. Password links can be used once, and only for a limited time: welcome links for 7 days, reset links for 2 hours.
  2. Go to the sign-in page and choose Forgot your password? to get a new one.
I see "Owners and admins only" or a similar page
  1. You are signed in with an account that doesn't have access to that page.
  2. Press Switch account to sign in with a different account, or Back to calendar to continue.

Using the calendar

There is no New event button
  1. Open your menu and check which account you're using.
  2. If it says Wall monitor, you're on the shared display sign-in, which is view-only unless an Admin allows adding. Sign out and sign in with your own email.
An event is missing
  1. Check the color legend: the event's type may be hidden on this device. Select the type to show it.
  2. Use Search to look for it by title or name; it may be on a different date.
  3. If it was deleted, it can be restored for 30 days. Ask an Owner or Admin to check Settings → Backup → Recently deleted.
The calendar looks out of date or isn't displaying correctly
  1. Refresh the page (F5, or pull down on a phone).
  2. On a phone using the home-screen app, close it fully and open it again.
  3. Check your internet connection.
  4. Try another browser. TeamCal works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox.
Event times look wrong
  1. Times are shown as entered, regardless of where you are. Confirm the time in the event itself.
  2. If a warning at the top says your device's clock is off, correct your device's date and time settings.
  3. If "today" is wrong for everyone, an Admin should check the calendar's time zone.

Outlook and phones

Outlook or my phone doesn't show new events
  1. Wait: Outlook and Google check for changes only every few hours.
  2. Confirm you subscribed with the address from My account, not the one-time .ics download (that never updates).
  3. If you made a new address, remove the old calendar from your app and subscribe again with the new one.
  4. See Outlook, Google and phones for the exact steps for your app.

The wall display

The dashboard shows a warning banner
  1. Part of the dashboard hasn't refreshed recently, usually because of an internet interruption.
  2. The banner clears on its own once the connection returns.
  3. If it doesn't, refresh the page (F5).
  4. If it asks you to sign in, the team sign-in password has probably been changed. Ask an Owner or Admin.
The dashboard calendar isn't showing today
  1. It returns to today automatically after a few minutes without use.
  2. To return immediately, press Today on the dashboard calendar.

Still stuck?

Ask an Owner or Admin on your team first: they can resend password links, restore deleted events, change access levels and adjust settings. For anything they can't resolve, an access request, or a suggestion, use the contact form. Include what you were doing, what happened and when, your device and browser, and a screenshot if possible.
