TeamCal + Dashboard User guide

Welcome

TeamCal is your team's shared calendar, with a large-screen dashboard for your operations center. Everyone works from the same schedule, changes reach every screen within a minute or two, and each person can add the calendar to Outlook, Google Calendar or their phone.

Quick start checklist

New to TeamCal? These five steps take about ten minutes. Tick them off as you go.

  1. Open the link in your invitation email and choose a password of at least 8 characters (the link works once, for 7 days). After that, sign in with your work email and that password. No email? See Signing in.
  2. Open the calendar and the dashboard, and press Ctrl+D (Cmd+D on a Mac) on each to bookmark it.
  3. On the monitor's PC, open the dashboard, sign in and leave Keep me signed in ticked. Press F11 for full screen (F11 again leaves it). For a screen that only ever shows the dashboard, start the browser in kiosk mode: chrome --kiosk or msedge --kiosk --edge-kiosk-type=fullscreen followed by the dashboard address. See The wall display dashboard.
  4. iPhone: open the calendar in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Android: open it in Chrome, tap the three dots, then Install app or Add to Home screen. Open it from the home screen and sign in once more.
  5. Open My account and copy your private calendar address. Outlook: Calendar → Add calendar → Subscribe from web, paste it, Import. Google Calendar (on a computer): Other calendars + → From URL, paste it, Add calendar. It is one-way and refreshes every few hours. See Outlook, Google and phones.

TeamCal is an in-house application by Dan Knudsen; the team's Admins decide who has access. See Ownership and security.

The three parts of TeamCal

The calendar
Where you view, add and update events, from a computer, tablet or phone.
The dashboard
A full-screen view for a wall monitor: weather radar, local and world clocks, a 7-day forecast and the upcoming schedule.
My account
Your sign-in details, password, and the private feed that puts the calendar in Outlook or on your phone.

Where to start

Not sure which level you have? Open your menu (the round letter at the top right of the calendar); your level is shown next to your name. See Access levels.
